One more week! For those of you thinking ahead to Winter Break... Our Final Exam Schedule has been shared with us! Please pay attention to our release times as this schedule is a lot different from last year. No teachers are giving finals out early - you will have to communicate with them about making up your final after the break! For those students in semester courses, you are now able to be exempted from those semester finals. Please check our Exemption Qualifications to ensure you are all set to exempt! If you have any questions, please let me know! Here's what we're working on this week:Monday: We ended last week working on a series of activities on the Columbian Exchange, a topic you have studied before and should know well! We will talk about writing LEQs, how they are different from DBQs, and discuss ideas for writing tomorrow.
Tuesday: Today we are writing! Bring a blue or black pen! I will provide the rest.
Wednesday: Now that we've written an essay, let's score some examples so that we can better understand the rubric and what that particular standard for College Board is. Afterwards, we'll be discussing the different policies and practices of Maritime Empires in this period.
Thursday: Continuing from Wednesday, we will finish our short lecture on Maritime Empire's policies and practices, then complete a series of activities to better understand them.
Friday: After a short game of GimKit, we'll continue our activities from Thursday. The assignment itself will be due by the end of the period. Only 10 School Days left until the Thanksgiving Holiday! For those of you thinking ahead to Winter Break... Our Final Exam Schedule has been shared with us! We start a new unit this week - here's what we've got coming up:Monday: Today in class we are going to use primary sources to determine what perceptions Europeans held before exploration in 1492. Consider what you already know about Exploration from prior experiences, and then be ready to challenge those thoughts!
Tuesday: Using some digital tools like GimKit and Google Apps, we are going to look closer at the tools and ideas that allowed Europeans to navigate and explore before the Eastern Hemisphere.
Wednesday: In class today we are going to use Nearpod for an interactive lecture to discuss the role of new European states and advanced economies in spurring on exploration. Be ready to complete a short gallery walk as well!
Thursday/Friday: Students will use a HyperDoc to review the changes/impact of the Columbian Exchange in a new globalized network of the Atlantic World.
There is a lot of reading this week.. but we don't want to have to do it over Thanksgiving! Read now, sleep and eat later. :-)The long, never-ending trek of October is over... |
