Classroom Blog |
I hope everyone enjoyed their extra rest this past weekend! To start our blog post this week, I have one "unofficial" homework assignment for you to do: In AP Courses, students are offered the opportunity to earn college credit by participating in the AP Exam. Our deadline will be addressed for when you have to sign up and register for said exam later in the coming weeks BUT I do want you to start thinking about whether you will be participating in the exam or not. Throughout the school year, all of the hard work and learning that we do in this course will be geared toward the AP World History Exam. If you have any questions at all, please let me know! Let's take a look at what's coming up this week:Tuesday: Today we're going to start the period by reviewing the SAQ Questions you finished over the weekend. Then you'll write an individual response for Q3 and turn that in for some feedback (notice, I didn't say "grade" - it will be graded but the main part of this is simply knowing where to go from here). We'll finish the day by starting our discussion of Models of Empires.
Wednesday: We're going to finish our discussion about how we can better understand empires with the Conrad-Demarest Model. Then, we are going to apply it to the different empires that exist in the Classical Era to better understand its limits.
Thursday: Today we are going to switch gears and look at the different cultural developments during the rule of Classical Empires: religions! We'll be comparing the origins and development of Buddhism and Christianity in their context of imperial rule.
Friday: Today you are going to look at some social change as a result of new religious influence in our Classical Empires. We'll be looking through the lens of Judaism, Confucianism, and Christianity.
